tonight...

We went to visit Ren's new teacher and came home with a friend. (Meeley went home with the other family... a kid-swap.) The second we stepped in the door, our highestandmostdifficulttoreach smoke detector began to chirp. And we were out of 9-volt batteries.

It figures.

Thankfully, the boys had a solution...

I couldn't hear a bit of chirping after that :-)

Ya know what's weird? MINE began to chirp the other day (needs a 9-volt), and my friend was just mentioning that HERS went off this week for need of a battery! But be Battery Week.

Ours always goes off in the middle of the night. My poor husband has to get up and change it otherwise I zoom in on the noise and can't get back to sleep!

Our usually does it in the middle of the night. Ours are wired together and once when we tried to let it go, it eventually triggered ALL of the alarms to go off.

In the middle of the night.

And ours did too! I am hoping that everyone replaced the batteries rather than just taking down the detector. I see too many fires after the fact that would not have been so bad had there been a working detector. You'd be amazed at the kitchen fires I have been to where the kitchen smoke detector is sitting on the counter top!
