
The kids made ice cream. And slime. There was even some sort of experiment involving
crystals. Several of the adults were even a tad envious.

I guess it helps to have a chemistry teacher in the neighborhood! It's amazing how much you can learn while having fun:
Did you know that barium is used to create green colors in fireworks? Or that copper compounds create blue?
Did you know that eggs act as an
emusifier in ice cream and that without it, your ice cream would be icy instead of creamy?
Have you ever heard of strontium? Apparently, stontium salts impart a red color to fireworks.

Perhaps a weekly lesson is in order...
