Grandma Lita took us to lunch today in honor of Ren's upcoming birthday. After checking out the sidewalk sale at Wet Paint (which, by the way, is where I found THESE VERY COOL JOURNALS), we dined at the Coffee News Cafe. With breakfast available until 2:00 pm, the boys were able to order eggs, toast, and pancakes while Lita and I chose one of their many delicious sandwiches. (You should have seen the desserts!)
Afterwards, we stopped by Lita's place for presents and cake. (Or is it cake and then presents? Questioning the order of things is an ongoing Vega tradition.)

I just shared this post with my hubby and he said, "Ugh. It's CAKE FIRST, then presents... always alphabetical order."
I swear we go through this every year. (And the hubby is always the one to remember!)
so says the hubby...but, were we to ask his sibs, might they dispute that order??? (insert smile here)
Presents first, then cake.
Sincerely,
the sister
I want to chime in on this. While I can certainly understand presents then cake, this order would prolong the opportunity to enjoy/play with the new gift. Under your scenario (presents then cake) you would open the present and before being given the opportunity to fully enjoy and bask in the uphoria of the new gift, your parents rip it from your hands and shove a cake in front of you. Doesn't seem like a very nice thing to do to a kid. Therefore I agree with hubby...cake then presents.
