hope = joyful expectation

mono wall hug

After shopping waiting patiently for several years, my husband and I finally earned enough points on our credit card to "purchase" something bigger than a new set of flatware. I am happy to say we are the proud new owners of a Wii. A free Wii (which makes it oh so much better).

The box arrived yesterday and we set it up to be a secret surprise.

When my oldest opened the entertainment center for his game time this morning, he was shocked to see the new game system. "I didn't know I'd wake up today to own a Wii!!!"

It's like that with life. We experience tough seasons. Times where we struggle more than others. Where nothing seems to be going our way. Then one day, we wake to a surprise.

I'd rather spend my days hoping for what is to come rather than grieving what's been lost.

We rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Romans 5:2-4

God has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us. 2 Corinthians 1:10

No one whose hope in you, Lord, will ever be put to shame. Psalm 25:3

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. Psalm 62:5

This doesn't come naturally, it is a daily choice I must make. So what are you hoping for today?

I read this the other day so bogged down and discouraged that it barely made it past my eyes to even get to my head. I kept reminding myself to go back and read those scriptures but hadn't until today and I think those words have made it much closer to my heart today. Thank you-i needed to be reminded that my hope is hopeless unless my hope is in Christ.
