where a kid can be a kid (and a grown-up can be one too)

I posted this image of my hubby on Flickr several days ago and had meant to blog about our afternoon at Chuck E. Cheese... but alas, life got away from me. We brave the chaos of CEC several times each year to reward our children for working hard in school. (Personally, I favor Space Aliens Grill & Bar but am outvoted every time.) As much as I detest the undercooked pizza and large rodent, I have to admit there's something almost nice about Chuck E. Cheese. It's a place where families with young children gather and someday soon, we will no longer belong. The hubby and I began to speculate on where the boys will want to celebrate report cards when in middle school... perhaps Brunswick Bowl (we've heard good things but haven't had a chance to check it out yet), Grand Slam, or something else along those lines.

For now, I'll learn to savor the undercooked pizza.

Journaling Ideas: In what ways do you celebrate or recognize accomplishments in your home? How do you encourage yourself or your children to work hard? Do you reward yourself for a job well done? Why or why not?

When we were little we went to Circus Circus! They had a robot band that was awesome!
