i'm a big ole' meany mom.

At least that's how my oldest sees me right now. We had a rough weekend. A very rough weekend. So rough in fact, I almost tossed his Nintendo DS into the garbage.

Now that really would have made me a big ole' meany mom.

Instead, we revoked all computer and gaming privileges until Saturday. The huffing and puffing that followed could have generated enough wind power to fuel a small village.

I'm so glad it's Monday.

I recently revamped my checkbook cover (using Tilly's shot of my little rebels) and thought I'd pass this nifty idea along to you! In addition to showcasing your favorite photos, it could also be used as a clever advertising tool or as a means to share your faith. Using a clear vinyl checkbook cover as your pattern, cut a piece of cardstock or paper to a slightly smaller size. Decorate one or both sides of the cover and carefully slide into place.

By the way, did I mention it was a rough weekend? I've ordered myself a copy of "Parenting with Love and Logic" to help build me some strong mommy muscle. Then I'll be a big ole' STRONG meany mom.

I'm in that club sometimes, too. Don't beat yourself up over it too much. I've already seen glimpses of life with a teenager, and it ain't pretty.

Can he at least still play Webkinz? If not, I guess you are a mean mommy. ;) Just kidding! He'll be running over to favorite Aunty Amy's house soon enough!

He can play with his Webkinz but not on the computer.

He's even been trying to get us to do the legwork ("Couldn't YOU just look up pictures of Transformers and print them for me?").

This was his second infraction; it needs to hurt. (Lorenzo was party to it as well... his first violation.)

I suppose I could always threaten to give Tilly the Nintendo DS.

Yep - I can join the mean mom club too! LOVE and LOGIC is so awesome - my only problem is remembering to use it more consistently.

I also like the book Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours, by Kevin Lehman. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&EAN=9780800731052&itm=1

I have a copy if you're at all interested!

Amy, Do you mean that he will be running over to his favorite aunt STACEY'S house?????

Well, Stacey, I suppose you're a little closer and easier to get to than my place... and you probably are a bit more fun than me! :) But I am home during the day!

Ummm, excuse me wayward aunties... does this mean I need to be concerned about what's happening when I am not around?

I know what you mean Colleen; consistency is key and unfortunately, the very thing I seem to struggle with most! That's why I need help with being a STRONG meany mom. They need to feel the pain of consequences to grow and learn - it can be a hard thing for a mom, allowing that to happen!

I just posted about being a mean mommy, too. I wonder if it is just being inside because of the weather and it makes our kids act up. Who knows?

I tagged you for a meme! I have really enjoyed reading your blog. If I ever get started on my scrapbooking this year, I will have to use some of your awesome ideas.
